Where to refurb a bat?
« on: March 14, 2021, 10:25:46 AM »

Morning all,
Have an Affinity Carbine from 2015 that needs a bit of love. I dropped them a line but haven’t heard back - any other suggestions where I can get it sanded and tidied up for the season?

Affinity don’t exist anymore, which is a shame. I’ve had 3 Carbines and they were all great.
What needs doing? If you want to keep the stickers (a must in my view) you’ll probably have to do it yourself as most companies want to take off the stickers completely as it makes it far quicker, easier and you can achieve a more consistent finish.

Nothing significant needed, just a good cleanup. I don’t mind having other stickers on it, but I know most brands would be reluctant to re-sticker another manufactures stick. Sad to hear Affinity have gone...

Do you have a local batmaker? If so take it there. If you want particular stickers on it send it to that company. Some brands will sticker bats that they have not made.

Happy to sort it for you @PlugandPlay if needed. Better to remove stickers and put new, as it looks better imo but cab keep the stickers if needed. I'm in Leeds but you can post it if needed and don't have anyone local to you.

I'll be more than happy to do the referb, I usually take all stickers off, sand at 40,80,120,150,180,240,320 and 400 by machine than 600 by hand. I then compound finish and can put new stickers on. I'm based in London and can send you photos of other work I've done if you like. If you want to find out more feel free to message me.

Not sure what the going rate is but Neon Cricket currently offering refurb for £30 which seems a pretty good price. Can't comment on the quality of workmanship as I've only just sent my bat to them this week.
