Resizing Strettons
« on: April 11, 2021, 07:05:56 PM »

Evening all;

Having lost around 18kg since last playing cricket 18 months ago, I put my strettons on yesterday and realised they need a considerable resizing! I have the memory like a sieve, what is the best way to remould and shape them again?

Cheers

Congrats on the weight loss, great achievement.

Heat oven to 80°C.
Remove all straps.
Put guard on a oven tray - do one at a time, I also like to line the tray with grease proof paper.
Place in the middle of the oven, set a timer and heat for 10 mins.
Remove and immediately shape the guard to suit and fix with the straps - do it a little tighter, as I found they relax a little once cooled down.
Take off after 15 mins and repeat for second guard - I put the second in the oven, when removing the first to wear/shape.

Those instructions are for the new style Stratton's.

I'm guessing as you haven't played for 18 months you've got the original style ones, in which case brute strength and ignorance is the preferred method to mould them  :D
