Hi team,

Managed to rupture my right Bicep tendon yesterday and currently going through the process of getting it fixed. I have heard that a lot of the time now they just say no to surgery and you carry on. Has anyone had this injury and not had it reattached? What were the implications as some sites say 30-40% loss of strength and some say you're pretty much back to normal after strengthening it back up.

That sounds really nasty, I am sorry about that.
I can't answer for a bicep, but an Achilles takes 6 months to heal and longer to get the muscle power/ankle stability back.

Yes I�ve ticked this one off the list of injuries too, slat-lab injury which meant I lost my ability to throw a ball like I used too, bowling action still fine tho!

I've done this while deadlifting,

I would always always always get the surgery. If you tear the muscle belly, strengthening work is fine, but when you rupture the tendon the bicep will never function as well again and I'd be surprised if you get even 50% strength back.

Thanks for the replies.
Went to ED today and the specialist said I should be fine without surgery and should get back to 95% normal strength. He said it will just loom funny from now on...
Physio booked in so hopefully a happy ending in the next few months.
