Advice on bat for £150
« on: May 22, 2021, 06:52:07 AM »

Sorry if this kind of thread has been done to death before, my first post on the forum.
Am looking to buy a bat around the £150 mark, and want to support a proper, smaller maker. The last two bats I've tried haven't been great ping wise (one was a GM and the other a Chase), so am just after advice really. Might be lucky and be able to get a butterfly / low grade 4 at this price from either Red Ink, Robert James or Vulcan from what I've seen on their twitter pages.
I know that all 3 makers have a presence on the forum from time to time, and know that they all make cracking bats, but am interested if anyone has experience of actually using bats at this price point from these makers. The nearest maker to me is probably Stac, but unsure of their prices and they don't seem to get much of a mention on the forum.
Any advice or comments or alternatives would be really welcome, and let's hope it stops raining soon.

Bats from @Red Ink Cricket look great and nice to deal with. You should also check out @SOULMAN1012 and @LEACHY48

Son has just bought a G2 SH via JN Garrard for £157.50 delivered and looks great, still knocking it in but pings well.  I also picked up a really nice B&S in the winter which is a bit of a beast and they have some G3 on their website now I think for around the £100 mark

Can happily make something up for you. Forum members get a reduction on website prices so would come in under budget. Drop me a message if you want to discuss options

I currently have custom bats made by Chris @SOULMAN1012 and John @Red Ink Cricket in the same price range. Me and my club mates who have played with these two bats have been impressed by the performance and crazy ping.

I have had two subgrade bats custom built by Ed @garrardandflack, they were £70 each and really nice ping but lasted only two seasons of reckless T20. I would blame the cheap quality balls for the loss.

Currently working with John to get a couple of custom butterfly bats. These will be my first true custom bats and am very excited.
