Having a go - a newbie post
« on: March 17, 2022, 07:41:08 PM »

Last year I bought a bat in lockdown as I quite fancied having a go at minor refurbishing with my son.  Not only was it something we could do together but it also seemed a good way of getting an expensive bat for not much money. After I completed it I gave it to one of his friends who played for his county U11’s to have a go with.  He liked it so much he used it for the rest of the season. It was good fun and so we did a couple of others for other players. I didn’t make money but I covered costs and got a few beers. Along the way I picked up other bats that I thought would let me see what damage could be fixed (really I was I was just justifying my eBay buying habit).  My son has started an Instagram account (@playresumes) which shows some of the bats we have done.  Thought people might be interested.  Any helpful feedback gratefully received.

Great first post.

Brilliant to see you having a go and more importantly having some fun refurbishing bats with you son.

You'll be asking for someone to supply you with clefts soon enough.

The important part is from your posts it's easy to tell that you ENJOY doing it, which is the key. I like the kookaburra that was slimmed down to a training bat, very nice stuff.

Thanks both, definitely enjoyed doing the bats, I think I need to come up with a way of sourcing them now that doesn’t cost me money!! 😂
Definitely will want a cleft one day!
Thanks for the support.

H4L sell part made clefts on their website if you are going to look into making your own.
