Gray-Nicolls Legend bat 2lb 9oz
« on: April 29, 2023, 09:19:12 AM »

This was an impulse purchase after it appeared on my eBay feed, sourced from G-N's eBay store.

I was thinking of making a trip to Salix for a bat a little lighter than I usually use, when this surfaced and I pulled the trigger.

It has a cosmetic defect whereby the stamping on one edge is off-centre and encroaches slightly into the face. This was stated in the listing.
This doesn't concern me in the slightest as I have not paid full price and that would be well out of my reach / justification for a single bat.

Here are a few photographs to kick off with. The prevailing light has such an impact on the images. Will try a few more in different conditions.

The bat is 2lb 9oz, has not been oiled and I have not tapped it up so far, to preserve the cosmetics for the time being.

There are no shoulder stamps, perhaps the maker didn't want to own the edge stamping error.

It is bowed and has a mid-middle.

No regrets with the purchase, the challenge is how long to keep it just to look at.

Superb looking bat!
I'm looking hard but can't quite tell how the writing on the face and back of the bat is done?
It doesn't look like stickers, and the upward staining around the letters on the back of the bat make it look like it's been done with a laser, but the shadows in the letters make it look like it's carved or pressed in.  I wouldn't have thought it possible to press letters into the back of a concaved bat, or can they do that 3D effect with the laser?
