As per the title, really, and looking for some advice from anyone who's had similar issues
Been having issues with my right calf when bowling (left armer, not very quick at all) since around the middle of March towards the end of winter nets; it's a fairly sharp pain, typically around my soleus muscle, with no swelling or bruising or anything like that. Nothing's changed with my run-up either, joggers pace, certainly not explosive.
Stopped bowling the first time it happened, went home and did RICE as well as a bit of heat around the area for around 2 weeks at first (no cricket) before then going for a short run (I do your typical muscle stretches before as well) and feeling reasonably OK with no noticeable pain, so went to nets a few days later. Loosened up etc, bowled around 5/6 deliveries before my calf went again, and stopped.
Since then I started with RICE, then slowly after a week started to introduce some other activities such as single leg heel raises, hopping on the leg as well as jumping, then another short run, all feeling OK with nothing by way of pain. Nets last night; usual loosen up etc, this time able to get through about 12 odd deliveries before my calf caves in again. Eurgh.
Just wondering if anyone has had any similar issues and a way of rehabbing back without the issue coming back? I'm obviously doing something wrong; first thought is I'm simply just not being patient enough and need to drag this out to 4-6 weeks. I can walk OK, so not sure it's entering the world of incredbly severe Grade 2/3 in terms of a strain
Many thanks
