Bat Knocking in machine
« on: January 27, 2023, 04:58:40 AM »

Morning all,
I am looking at getting a knocking in machine. Get a lot of requests for the service but no idea where to source one. Any makers/repairers able to point me in the right direction at all please?

https://www.smarttechindia.com/

You're looking at about £4-5k plus import duty depending on which model you want.

A quick Google search will give you plenty of options mate. Most suppliers will advertise them on Indiamart and you can then research the companies further to weed out the rubbish.

Make sure you've got your t&c's sorted! 😆

Anyone got the blueprints from that guy who made his own DIY knocking in machine?  😆

Only a year late to this, but I just found this option... if you're brave enough!

And there is also a short video showing how it was made

I'd be terrified that I hadn't stuck the ball on properly, and within seconds I'd be cutting a trench through my lovely bat face.

Would a percussion massage gun with an adapted cricket ball fitting work too?

I'd imagine neither would do a very good job. Not sure they'll apply enough pressure. It's a ball ache, but for me you can't beat knocking in by hand.

I have had a bat or two machine knocked and they came out fine. I am ok with hand malleting a bat as well. Machine does save time and you can also hand mallet it later.

@marsbug link looks interesting. If I were to knock a bat today, I'd probably use that option. You don't have to knock the entire bat with that handheld gizmo, just the areas that you regularly hit.

I just don’t think that’s hitting it with enough force to do the job.
