ServiceI rang up James at Fusion, about 10-30 on a Monday morning; I spoke with him for around 10 mins. The more I spoke with him the more confident I felt I could trust the company with my hard-earned cash! In the end I ordered a Superbest which I was told would take no-longer than a week for me to receive. Then about 6-30 the same night, I received a call from James to say that he had some spare time on his hands and wanted to get some orders out of the way, and he had finished my bat! I then received the bat on Wednesday, and eagerly ripped open the box….
LooksAs one of my specs I told James I would have preferred a clean face, however if the grains were good enough I would have some blemishes. I was assured that the bat had a darker shade of wood but it wasn’t heartwood, and that it also had 13 straight grains. When I opened the box I wasn’t left un-impressed! I got exactly what he said and the stickers were much nicer than on a computer screen! The bat was concaved and had a slight bow which was exactly what I asked for, the edges weren’t massive but I wasn’t too bothered because the bat pinged….
PerformanceI rushed into my back garden and forced my brother to give me some throwdowns, I was left gobsmacked! James had said that it will get better with use, however it is already better than my Salix, and in my first net I ‘injured’ 3 people by driving the ball out of the net by simply blocking. It has amazed nearly everyone at my club, and it has probably secured Fusion at least 3 new orders in the near future! The pick-up could possibly be the best part of the bat, on the good ol’ kitchen scales the bat weighs 2/12 however I’m not exaggerating when I say it picks up like 2/8!
I have only batted properly with the bat once, however people have already started to comment on how good it is! I have hit 3 amazing shots with it that made peoples’ heads turn- one a pull which knocked a slate off the Pavilion roof, a once bounce four from a leg glance and a cover drive for four which absolutely ‘rocketed’ to the boundary.
There is only one bad point about the bat which isn’t really major as the pick-up makes up for it! It seems to be a reacurring theme with Fusion that you never get the weight you ask for exactly, it is always around 1 or 2 ounces heavier.
All in all I really recommend Fusion to anyone who is on the look-out for a new bat, it is superbly pressed, shaped and balanced which are some of the most important things a bat should have!
Fusion gets a 10/10 for me!
