Funky !
« on: August 19, 2010, 09:52:17 PM »

I'm seriously looking at the possibility of purchasing a Funky Bat, does anyone have one or any experience with them or even know who makes them. Are they any good or not i would appreciate any information on them, looks like cricket-hockey are the sole people who sell them which is too far away from me to visit. Does anyone live near the showroom and perhaps been in picked them up etc etc.

I have had some experience with the Funky bats. One of the youth players at my club has one. He purchased the £200 model, cant remember the name (Slug?) and I have to admit that I was impressed. 11 ruler straight grains, massive edges and chunky long middle, and weighs 2lb 8oz. A few members at our club have them, and all seem to be happy with them. Never personally used one, however, seen around 3-4. Most of the ones I have seen seem to be pressed softly.

Thanks for the info bud, did they appear that they were made in the UK or in India or Pakistan.

Not a problem. They are made in Asia, I am 99% certain of it. I would love to be proven wrong, but I cant see they would get them made in England.

Were they the top end models Tom, was thinking that they may do some in the UK and some in Pakistan possibly unlikely though.

I am actually planning a trip up to Salisbury (only around 20 minutes drive for me) within the next few weeks as I am quite keen on the bats. They do seem like lovely bats, and the quality seems to be of an excellent standard, maybe a little over priced for what they are, but hey, they sell alot and good on them!

Although, now I am getting paid for work, I have the horrible feeling that my urge to buy a bat will become too uncontrollable should I may the visit........ thats why I am not going to Millichamp and Hall or Newbery just yet! :P

It's in Downton and a big player in the market, bats are made by AM. Superb service and knowledge of bats.
