If it is real then it is the usual trick of using a very cheap cleft to sell as a grade 1 bat, if it is a fake then it is the usual trick of using a very cheap cleft to sell as a fake grade 1 bat.

Not necessarily, procricket laver has a broken shoulder that snapped and that was one of the best bats i have used!

Maybe, but this one looks relatively new. When did the shoulder go on the Laver?

looking on the brightside,it can always double as a walking stick during the winter.

Looks aren't everything,my bat has black stains on it but goes pretty well and has an enormous profile for a 2'7.

I guess it comes back to the OP getting the bat for free, so whether or not it's a G1 shouldn't really matter as long as it performs ok.

tbf the bat is about 2 years old and i cleaned it up after fixing the shoulder so hopefully it will get some use in the nets over winter and i will see if it preforms like a grade 1
