yes and no when you get the travisher and scrap half the bat away mate and look at your edges and see one is smaller than the other but yes i like it.

I would say this though my hat goes out to the batmakers of the world i started with a 4lb lump and butchered it down to 2lb 4oz but i have herd working with english willow is easier hense the 10 clefts coming

Its a good idea to draw on the shape of the edges as a guideline so you dont whittle away too much

Dave, that's terrible!!!, but we all have to start somewhere, copy the edge profile and trace it on, then work hard on the spine, keep it, don't hack it off.

I say fair play for having a go and if you enjoy it why not, I think that looks pretty good for a first effort.

I will shortly have more spare time and also want to have a go, I have access to a properly solid work bench (looks like it has been there for ever) with a decent vice and a friends dad is willing to lend me a drawknife and a spokeshave.
