Oiling
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:46:23 AM »

How often should a bat be oiled?

Front and back?

Should you remove the anti-scuff at the end of the season and reapply a new one?

A mate of mine always dips his bat in a bucket of oil at the end of the season but i've heard from many manufacturers that you shouldn't do this.

Are you going for the "Most Threads in one day" award?

Haha - perhaps he collects it and tips it into a dustbin which allows him to dip it in... ;)

How does the bat sound when he uses it? And does the bat look very brown?

you can over oil a bat will will saturate the wood casuing it to perform like a wet sponge. Two to three coats at the start of the season will keep the willow at optimum levels to avoid it becoming too brittle.

If you have a suff sheet/face-guard on the bat then oviously oiling isnt required.

it sounds fine but does have a definite yellow tinge to it!

maybe he is just mad and has too much money - so could buy a new bat if this knackers it

no he is a ginger if that makes a difference!
