Stanford 2020 Bowling speeds
« on: October 26, 2008, 10:48:15 AM »

Did anyone see the speeds that Jerome Taylor (95mph?) and Ravi Rampaul (89mph?) were bowling?

Surely it cant be accurate

Yes, He Was In The Original Squad..... But Isn't Playing For The Reasons I Previously Stated.
If You've Watched You Would've Seen Him Giving An Interview Where He Mentioned How He's Recovering... And Also On How It Feels To Be Watching His Brother Play

Interesting that on wickets that dont look great these guys are bowling at these speeds - another possible reason for the lower scoring in these games

well the speed is hand speed ie the speed when the ball leaves the hand

yeh but the change when the ball hits the pitch is greater thus making it harder to bat on

actually not

the ball slows down in the air as it travels and the pitch absorbs shock and then it continues to slow up

simply meaning that when the ball is bowled at 90 it may lose 10 miles per hour by the time it reaches the batter

how much it loses depends on the pitch, on a wet one it would lose more than a hard one
