Johnson being dropped is hardly a surprise his record against England is terrible and he is down on pace and out of form. I read a comical line in the Times the other day saying that Johnson will become Australia's answer to Steven Harmison - which is such a good analogy - he is bound to go back to state cricket and take a bucketful of wickets and be recalled before he is ready and his action is back.

Pretty funny watching the Aussies scrape around for players like we did in the 90's and it is only 0-0 - they came out of the last test with no less credit that we did!

I have a feeling they might bring in Harris simply as he is a stronger fielder/batter than Bollinger, now that Johnson has gone, they have a significant gap to fill at 8...

Harris will replace Hilfenhaus, Punter hinted this at the press conference.

Interesting tactics as Hilfenhaus has been a more consistent bowler for Ponting over the past 12 months, although he has never been a chief destroyer of the opposition, he has given him control....

Hilfenhaus has been having trouble with his hamstring recently.

Hilfenhaus didn't look at his best in the first test, but then most of the Aussie attack was pretty woeful - one spell aside.

The great thing in hitting is, not to be half-hearted about it; but when you make up your mind to hit, to do it as if the whole match depended upon that particular stroke.

Both had to be dropped, very ineffective throughout that test match. Harris seems a better option, very similar to Siddle as he hits the deck hard and would bowl all day...

If i were australia i'd be more worrried with their spin attack at the moment. Doherty is also very ineffective and Marcus North seems a better spin prospect to me at the moment. There tail looks very long now without Johnson in that line-up!

I'm going for a win in this test with 160 from Strauss on first day and two 5 wicket hauls from swann throughout the test.
