Which Junior Bat??
« on: January 16, 2011, 09:07:49 AM »

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advise please. My son (age 13) is looking for a new bat (Junior size 5) and wondered what the general opinion of the board was.
He has had a GM icon 808 DXM 5 star for the last year which hasn't been great quality (toe broke during first nets last year and middle of bat split first net last week).
He played a lot of cricket last season opening for u13's,u15's, club adult 4th team and taverners so don't mind spending the money to get him something decent.
He is looking at a number of bats at the moment the Warsop Venom, Redback Allegiance and Millichamp and Hall Harlequin.

Are the junior bats made out of the same grade willow as the adult?

Thanks in advance for your advise!!

I have quite a few in English Willow, Plz email me or check our web site.
Almost all the junior bats are imported in from either sub continent or South Africa.

Thanks for that.

I think he fancies something a bit different to the off the shelf GM, Kookabura, Adidas his mates are a using, will have a look at the Arytek.

Has anybody heard of/used a Warrior bat? we aren't that far from there place in Wakefield but don't know anyone who's had one.

I picked up a really good puma for a friends son. If that's not what you want, SAF have been known to do a junior bat. Otherwise you could try ringing around to some of the other custom makers, they may be able to help...

My sons (13 & 15) have had many bats. By far the best bat has been the Redback (Harrow) we had made (Gr3 willow) superb, the eldest hit alot of runs with it and he hits the ball hard. Next would be Newbery Uzi and Willostix both very good and we have a few of each. The colts GN, GM, & Kookaburra versions used by their mates have not lasted very long and seemd very poor value for money.

Thanks for that Lozlis.
I've been in contact with Redback and Hell4leather and both can make what my son wants, so with bats from both these looking quality and the great reviews for both on this site i think it might come down to the key technical decision of a 13 year olds taste in stickers :D.

If it's stickers, I wouldn't be surprised if H4L just nick it... :|
