Bat 'Shine'
« on: January 21, 2011, 02:41:12 AM »

I've refurbed a bat recently and had some weight taken off of it (my warsop, now solitaire) and I'm just preparing it with a bit of oil at the moment but I was wondering how you get the new bat 'shine'?

I've orded some Salix bat wax and I was hoping this would do the trick? However I was also looking to protect the bat as well quite a bit with either a hammer edge sheet or an anti scuff sheet at least and not having used the bat wax before, is it a good thing to use it before I put the sheet on? or won't the sheet stick on properly?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

the shine comes from the buffing of the bat . so the salix stuff may work ith a lint free cloth if  not beeswax

yeah that's what I was thinking, putting it on and then buffing it. I did read somewhere about the wax that the longer you leave it on before buffing the deeper it penetrates the wood? However as I'm oiling my bat(as I've heard that just waxing the bat will not do a great job of protecting the bat) I would just need a bit of wax on the face of the bat to buff?

Im not sure how effective it will be to wax the bat after oiling, you usually buff the bat with bees wax when the bat is new then oil afterwards
