good shout call me overated anyday and he still averaged around 47....

As Pete said it all about opinions

I guess Ponting is going to be named he ain't done much for a time but he was the best batsman in the world for a long time for a long period of time and in the top 3 of his generation...

Tendulkar had a 2 or 3 year lean spell as well

hussey burst on to the scene averaging 80 and was labelled 'the new bradman'. since that stage of his career (2006) his average has slipped down to around the 50 mark and in recent times he has been struggling to maintain his place. this ashes series he batted very well, but could not have any effect on the result on the series and this one good series does not justify the high hopes that were harboured for him earlier in his career, i.e 'the new bradman' therefore i think it is fair to call him overrated.

fair enough mate it a good debate

Not sure i agree with your what has he done since 06

Agree he no Bradman but then who is i would have in the top 15 batsman of the noughties though

Only man in history to average over 50 in tests and odi not a bad mark of a player and although only a stat it a bloody impressive one

certainly a quality player but your going to struggle to live up to a tag like 'next bradman'

if it was 'world worst test XI' he would not be in it, i was looking it more from the angle of a players reputation and what had been expected from them and then comparing it to what the player had achieved

its interesting to think about how we would be talking about him without that excellent ashes series/

interesting debate mate, and its amazing what one innings (the ton in state cricket that got him in to the test side for brisbane) can do for your career. without him the ashes would have been 0-5!

What do you guys think about Steve Smith. I think Ponting identifies him as his new Shane Watson.

Steve Smith would definitely make my over-rated XI - not a good enough bowler for test cricket, not a good enough batsman for test cricket
