The most "beautiful" strokeplay
« on: October 23, 2008, 05:24:08 AM »

Please forgive me if i have missed anyone... but it is almost home time and my head hurts.

The anticipation of him emerging from the pavilion, and his walk from the boundary to the centre, is almost surreal. The sound of a passionate Indian crowd all chanting "Sachin, Sachin" as they wait in anticipation, followed by the enormous roar when he emerges onto the field, is electrifying.

Why are Bradman and Ponting on there, fine fine players, but not the most aesthetically pleasing...

What about VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid? Or Syed Anwar, Marcus Trescothick, Desmond Haynes,

Personally I would choose Lara. As Hussain said when Tendulkar broke the record Tendulkar to bat for my life and Lara for enjoyment.

Viv was a little more than that, he was something else batting, great eye. He would be my choice to watch.

I guess there are various things that would seem aesthetically pleasing to other people, some batsmen have better strokeplay in certain areas then other.

Edit: New Batsmen I might have overlooked have been added.

Bell or Vaughan for me as well. They play the most beautiful shots. I voted for Lara from the list though.

Lara is phenominal, "majestic timing from a young brian lara" on youtube. The whip off his legs in the air is scary!

I'd have chosen Viv if I got to see more of him.
