With Australia, there is no GST charged on parcels under the value of $1000. So unless you have to pay for further inspection/treatment, you won't get charged by Australian customs unless you're importing quite a lot of stuff.

Tom, how would you rate your Laver now after some use?  Really interested in getting one.

I have received a PB from James a couple of years ago, and a Firefly and Churchill last year.
Did not get any charge from customs. But dont think it took too long.
I remember thinking that one of them took a couple of days longer than I expected. But dont worry mate - have a little patience!
If James has confirmed that he has sent you PB, then figure on it getting to you in a weeks time. Then if it arrives sooner, it will be a nice surprise!

BTW, he makes awesome bats mate!!

Guys, sorry to bump up an old topic, but I am having a bat imported from New Zealand and wonder will the £25gbp charged be on top of parcelforce's administrative charges?

the import duty will be 20% of the declared value of the bat, if it is a new item.

Didn't Laver find a way to avoid customs charges?... I'm sure I remember something like that when they were a sponsor

Laver set up a presence in the UK and effectively the shipping was an inter-company transfer which has a different tax status. The UK distributor then posted them out from their location.

Theyve stopped doing this now. A quote from James as I got hit for £23

"We have worked out a way of using DHL now to charge the customs charges back
to us but your bat missed that trial shipment"

Same here, I got charged £23 from customs, but a good proportion of this was Parcelforce handling fees!

The bat itself (being an expensive bit of wood and my being used to the 12/13 grain beauties from SS or CA back in 2011) is okay looking, no blemishes but 7 straightish grains. What surprised me most was that my custom specs weren't quite as I had asked for, the middle isn't as low, but the pure scale, size and pickup of a bat weighing 2,8 is incredible. I have read a bit on the forum about Lavers gaining weight over time, but I really hope mine doesn't, as although it looks a 3lb beast to the eye I certainly wont score any runs with a bat weighing that much!

I have also read that performance is somewhat muted at first with Laver & Wood bats and I trust that mine will eventually 'bloom'- despite a good few hours of knocking in, and a net session last night, it still sounds almost tinny (I didn't go for the carbon handle, but the C10 insert). The vibrations at the upper end of the middle (several inches below the stickers) are crazy, almost like you have toed the ball.

I haven't yet posted a full review as I want to give this bat a chance to develop - I haven't quite declared it an expensive dud just yet.

I don't know about you,  but if I don't get what I asked for when I pay a lot of money for a very expensive bat I make a point of contacting the maker and complaining immediately.

I'd do exactly the same, I'd make sure they knew I was unsatisfied.
