I had an M&H is an solution shape back in 2008, after a Season of spooning drives and other shots I realised that although I loved this bats performance. The weight and shape were not suited to my game, 2lbs 10oz and low middle.
After a little knock around with an old bat I realised I needed a bat with a higher middle. So I took advantage of the v sports sale and got a Kook Blade Strike in 2lbs 6oz half price for £70. I used this bat for the 2009 season and had my best season, scoring my first 50 and being put up the top of the order by both teams. Obviously, when buying that bat I didn't know about the grains and just went on the profile. I took a gamble and it paid off.
Then at the end of the 2009 season I wanted a bat with the same shape but a bit heavier and chunkier. I got a bargain from Craig McLean. A Champ sports bat, grade 1, mid middle, 2lbs 9oz. I used it and loved it. I sold the blade and the champ was my main bat (and still is). I had the best season in 2010 open the batting on both days of the weekend. Hit over 500 league runs and more in all cricket, with 5 50's
Although I had a great bat, a bit of birthday money mid season made me buy a pro mongoose of Tom to try one out. I used it in a league match the day I got it and hit 50. However, I wasn't convinced. After a couple more matches in which I hit low scores and weighed back to the champ (which had been on loan to a teamate who hit 203*). I used the champ and hit 47 on a crap wicket.
I decided the champ was the bat for me and after putting the mongoose up on here I ended up with a redback allegiance premier. Got this through in September and used it a couple few times but could see it was the shape for me, paradox would have been better. I sold it and used some of the money to pay for a refurb and stickers for my champ.
So the last few bats I've had.
M&H - £100
Blade - £70
Champ - £70
Mongoose - £120
Redback - exchange
The most I have ever spent on a bat is £120, and I have had some amazing bats.
