I have never once had a go at Laver, I am sure they are great bats etc just never thought about buying one, may do in the future though. I certainly wouldn't pass judgement without having experience. Just don't have an opinion on them as have nothing to base it on if you know what I mean

When I started playing at senior level (18 years ago) we had a guy playing for us who used to creosote and varnish his bat; he then used to apply a large amount of black electrical tape to the bottom, he would consistently score 700-1000 runs a season, he was not concerned by the number of grains or the colour of the willow, well maybe he was concerned by the colour and that's why it was virtually black.

Whatever makes people happy, a big % of batting is confidence and that translates to your bat as well.  You can suggest, recommend etc but you can see it in there eyes, "I want that one."

My fav batsman uses a bat to heavy for him and gets tied up off his legs as he has no bat speed. Can I change him, can I heck, short of burning his original bat which I will be doing next week ;-)

back on topic: i think people relate a bat that looks good to a bat that performs well, when in actual fact a 2 grainer might go like a train and a perfect 12 grainer might be an absolute plank, people will realise as they play more cricket and try more equipment.
