De-lamination is the hard surface splitting from the willow underneath and leaving a gap between the 2, usually fatal for bats as a repair makes the blade dead.

It is nearly impossible to tell if your bat has a problem or not from the description as it is subjective, push down on the spot to see if there is movement for a de-lamination check.

You said a repair makes the bat dead, what would be the consequences if I were to leave it and continue using it? Would the damage worsen and break completely?

I'm afraid so, you could have it refaced but it is cheaper for a new bat.

Thought i'd post in here rather than start a new thread.
Last night i had a T20 game and my bat was used to muck about before the game giving catches etc. I (and others) noticed that it didn't sound right and seemed to me making a ringing sound off the middle.
When i used it to bat with it sounded ok but 90% of contact I made with the ball was off the toe. I didn't middle a single ball I played that badly.
Upon inspection of the bat I can't find anything wrong with it visually, is this likely to be the same problem alridd had?
Thanks in advance :)

Got the exact same issue with my H4L mate, starting to worry me big time although it's probably just the way I am playing

I haven't noticed it in a match as yet, just yesterday warming up.
Your H4L is new isn't it? Is it still under warranty? My laver's 3rd hand lol so I'm pretty (No Swearing Please) if it goes hence the Items Wanted topic!

I don't think it's going mate, its probably me not being able to hit a cows (No Swearing Please) with a shovel right now. It sounds tinny, I am not getting hold of anything. They are both new and seem to be the problem, but when anyone seems to use them, they fly!

I am not going to send them back or get rid, it's a mental thing and I am woefully out of form at the moment.

When I smack a ball against the net, it flies. Maybe it needs more knocking in. I dont understand really because I was using them in the nets a few weeks back and was flying.

Will have a look when I get home, but when I use the mallet on both, its very responsive

Listen mate. The bat will break at some point. Just enjoy it whilst u can. If you feel no deterioration in performance then just keep using it.

My money is on delamination. Just the crust coming away from the core. Was it a dry bat?

It got a little dry so I gave it another light oil a week or two back on face and edges.
