Back down with a bump then old bean?

Indeed! Happens pretty much every sunday after I score runs... A few weeks back I went from 153 to golden duck! Did you get a game in?

I try not to play Sundays if I can help it mate. Doubt there would have been a game anyway. It's been pretty wet here all day.

Filled in for our away team as the home game was off and we played away to Portishead.

They batted first and got 249 off their 40 overs on a damp wicket. I bowled 8-1-47-0 with 2 drop catches and lots of easy singles due to lacklustre fielding which was frustrating. I'm not the quickest but worked a guy over with two short balls then he nicked the pitched up one which was dropped :(

I batted at 8 annoyingly and got 28 off 15 balls as we tried to push on with a 7th wicket stand of 51 off 28 balls. We were something like 152 all out so fell well short.

Big Simmy was in form today. Scored 62 out of the first 71 in 11 overs. Second time we were 9 down needing 30 to win. Simmy came out with the M&H and asking for a middle guard. I replied "that's middle, off and leg with that edge!" . He then went .664.61161 (I was umpiring) to finish. Might actually be 93* Simmy!

Have to say the batting from us wasn't to clever inbetween Simmy's little cameos. We didn't have a great side but nor did the oppo and it was played in the right spirit by both teams. They retired a guy on 50 to give others a game, we did the same. We gave everyone a bowl and let their youngster have a proper knock by not trying to get him out, they didn't bowl full pace at my daughter who batted 11 for us - even when they could of won the game.

He turned up the day before at Wighill Park against us, through the player pool! Only a needing a couple of runs to win stopped us smacking him all over the shop that day.

Made my day when you hit him for 23 in that over, as I had been winding him up to bowl his "moon balls" for 30 odd overs. The conversation was priceless in the changing room later. It was always the plan for Binman to bowl at that end (according to planet Binman) and he couldn't understand what went wrong. After all he was only bowl slow moon balls to a 30 yard legside boundary. I did suggest he could bowl the other end and use the 80 yard legside boundary into the wind,"oh I didn't think of that" was his response. I struggled to keep a straight face :-)

Hit some form recently, hit 49 last Sunday and had a great net wednesday night. Then today I opened the bowling and bowled 12 overs 8 maidens 16 runs for 2 wickets. Then opened the batting and hit 48 chasing 107. Got out with the score in 90 and wanted to bat through, but was given LBW to a ball that I got an inside edge on. Was given out by a team mate who then refused to believe I hit it and then gave me a lecture on how to play leg side.

Unlucky mate, I had a dubious LBW last week, getting given out like that hurts :(

had a very dubious stumping decision against me at the weekend after hitting a few boundaries in quick succession where the ball has been bowled down legside and the keeper has taking it cleanly and whipped the bails of instantly and after over balancing i stepped out of my crease, they appealed and I was given out by our umpire.

I personally thought the keeper had taken the bails off too quickly as had some of my team mates but our umpire has always been very fair and has never given any howlers so I wasn't really that bothered about it, other than getting myself out again.
