73no against bottom of the league, bowled them out for 124 and 96 earlier in the season, both 10 wicket wins so a good effort!

saturday was a bad day. sunday however, i managed to double my season's best score with a knock of 75 batting at 3 instead of my usual opening slot. played some powerful shots through cover and point off the back foot, and also some good straight shots. then got out caught at deep fine leg trying to flick a wild bouncer for 6.

Won our Sunday friendly against the odds. Playing a team Barnsley way and in the last 3 years they've found ways to win at key moments. 2 years ago they took a catch over the boundary and claimed it was legal - we lost by 5 runs. Last year they pushed the boundaries of the wide rule to new heights and we lost by 3 runs. Earlier in the season they kindly provided an umpire who pretty much triggered us out of the game. Anyway, we finally won a toss and made a poor start with Simmy chipping to square leg 4th ball. At 61-5 off 15 the oppos off field skipper/man in charge came over and said "look guys we do alot a business around 6-7pm, since you are 5 down already if we finish you off can either send more guys in again to bat the 40 overs or let us bat our 40 overs". We didn't want to seem rude and agreed, but felt he'd underestimated us a bit!. In any case we recovered to 169-6 off 40, it would've been more but the umpires decided to let their guys almost bowl on the next pitch and not wide it. They got off to a flyer thanks to us letting our weaker bowlers have first use, but they kept losing wickets to our 5 pronged spin attack and were eventually 14 short. I think they regretted their official's earlier comments!

Saturday we knocked up 260-5 off of our 52 overs, contributed 22 opening the batting, then got 48 overs to bowl at them in reply and had them 126-9 at the end, frustrating but we just couldn't get the last wicket

Played in what might have been a close game on Sunday, but for the oppo's chase being made a hell of a lot easier by their #3 and (mainly) his Willostix Big Stick clubbing a hat load of sixes that were bothering the cows in the next field.

Name to watch out for all you Englishmen out there.....Daniel Bell-Drummond. Played against him today, we posted 7/225 after our 50, they replied with 4/228 with 5 overs left to play. Bell-Drummond came out at 3 and finished unbeaten on 130 something. The boys were saying he plays for the English U/19 team...he is only 17 as well! Had all the time in the world and his ability to place a cricket ball is fantastic. Shame we lost!

Oppo cried off again - 3rd time in 8 games since we started playing teams for the 2nd time around. Doesn't help that we haven't lost a game all season and the oppo don't fancy it if they are a bit weak. Hoping the next division up won't have the same issues next season. Had a net and went to the pub.

Bowled 12 overs for the first time in my life, my god it was tiring. Had 2x6 over spells, first spell I got 1 wicket and then had 2 dropped catches and a very close LBW given not out and that was just in the final over of the spell! I came on to bowl my 2nd spell with the opponents on 110-1 and took 3 wickets but sadly couldn't find the 4th to bag my second 5-fer of the season. However those 3 wickets removed both the batsmen who has dug themselves in and paved the way to getting them all out for 174 which we chased down with a few overs to spare.

Overall was very good but I think I need to work on my fitness alot, after those 12 overs I was struggling in the field(Didn't help when I dived head first straight into a wooden fence trying to stop a boundary  :( )

We got turned over today by a side who played their home ground well. After a delayed start and a reduced over game (38 instead of 45) we posted 206/8 after being 31/3! Staged a recovery of sorts to get us something to bowl at.

They chased them down with 2 overs to spare and 8 wickets after their lads pummelled the 35 yard legside boundary from ome end...at a guess I'd say 120 runs came from ome end!!

I scored 111 (12 x 4 and 8 x 6) but all a bit hollow in defeat :(

He's played two CB40 games for Kent recently. Did he look as good playing off the back foot in person as he does on TV?

Got back from tour of Devon late last night - fairly thankful that today's game was rained off.  Great times down in Devon though - good games at Kilmington, Heathcoat (though they had double-booked us so we ended up playing against a dreadful bunch from Wembley, with one or two from Highgate and other North London clubs), Exeter, and Sidmouth.  Chagford was rained off unfortunately, as that is one of the prettier grounds I've played at.
