We started off really well today. Oppo were 72-2 off 22 and in real trouble.
Somehow we let them get to 258 all out of 49.1 overs, our keeper got 5 stumpings haha! And also missed 2 and dropped a catch running backwards. So he could have had 8 victims! :o

We then made a bit of a (No Swearing Please) 196 all out in reply. I was going well 19 off 44 before I tried to force the pace (for obvious reasons - slow scoring rate and increasing needed rate) and got bowled as I forgot the deck was skiddy >:( ).

Losing is (No Swearing Please) (No Swearing Please). :(

Lost badly to Tom's lot y'day. Got 107 all out of which I got 9 off 24 balls and skying one off a leading edge. They got it 2 wickets down and are practically up.

Playing for FW today with Byo and playing against them tomorrow. Birthday bank holiday weekend.... CRICKET!

Team batted like a bunch of numptys today, apart from our overseas, who made 78.
Everyone else just didn't have any patience, and it was made worse by everyone wanting to bat and then not batting well to justify it. Too many hoiks or rash shots and too many ambitious shots (like whips to leg..).

I batted down at 10 (we had 10 men) and made 0* off 3 balls. The overseas decided (with at least 10 overs to go if we batted together) to try and launch one and got caught on the boundary. Brainless >:(

Only 157 on a sticky wicket wasn't good enough - lack of thought :(

They knocked it off 3 down, I kept very well on the bright side, 4 byes but that was one that rolled from the overseas's 80mph pace so surprised me...

Bit of a poor day though. :(

Ohh don't even get me started on that man. Our captain was 15, so I just said I would bat 10 and keep...
That was because everyone in our club (batsman or bowler) thinks they can hold a bat, and despite probably being the 2nd best bat on the team I ended up batting 10.

That's why I was so angry the overseas gave it away, if he wanted me to block I could have done that in my sleep and I could have attacked what was pretty (No Swearing Please) bowling at the same time if he wanted. :(

You had a 15 year old captaining a team which consisted of an overseas that bowled 80mph, interesting  ???

Not really interesting? I captained a side last year with our overseas who could bowl 80mph. Good learning curve..

No, I would say that's very interesting! How can a 15 year old know anywhere near enough about the game to captain a side effectively? there's a famous saying that it takes 10 years and 10,000 hours of competition to reach a standard where you are close to being on top of your game.

Obviously more experienced players in the side are going to help you out etc. I think it's good clubs giving young members a chance to captain the odd game.

Oh absolutely!! Young players need to learn but I was just interested that he be given it in a saturday league game, especially as it seemed to backfire and lose the game!
