Lou Vincent is sub-proing for us this weekend against Burnley  whilst we wait on the arrival of Malinga Bandara. I think he is then involved down at Sussex on a T20 contract?

Lancashires League pro's are:

Accrington: Ashar Zaidi
Bacup: Jon-Jon Smuts
Burnley: Imad Wasim
Church: Saeed Anwar Jr
Colne: Mansoor Amjad
East Lancs: Ockert Erasmus
Enfield: Werner Coetsee
Haslingden: Phil Hayes
Lowerhouse: Francios Haasbroek
Nelson: Burton De Wett
Ramsbotto: Shanan Stewart
Rawtenstall: Malinga Bandara
Rishton: Cameron Delport
Todmorden: Qaiser Abbas

I know a lad who played at KZ-Natal with that Delport lad, he's supposed to be extremely talented!

Excuse my ignorance but how to club team's afford these players? Also if there are no promotion opportunities surely it is a waste of money? I am not knocking it but could someone tell me the positives apart from the obvious.

Well I've been informed tonight that Shaoib Ahktar is playing somewhere else after being offered more money, Birmingham is the latest rumour.

I hope you are wrong Tumo but I've heard similar stories from a few people. Stewart and Anwar Jr have good lancs league pedegrees so I would expect both of them to score close to the 1000 mark.

As for paying the pro's forrester, the idea traditionally has been that the gate receipts generated by people wanting to watch top quality pro's will pay for the pros fees, hence the reason the likes of Warne, Bevan, Border etc have played in the past. Unfortunately this is no longer the case and amounts being paid for pros are falling (tied in with the fact that many of the best pros are playing IPL). With everyone playing to win its just a case of pulling in the best pro you can get for your money.

Canners,, don't worry about big max osbourne, just track him, put him off his county bowling length mate, lol. I would be more worried about either one of the openers getting a few runs.

Don't know of any big names playing the league this year, i am sure someone will pop up as usual, all iknow is Chris Lewis wont be playing this year for some reason or another  ;)

It will be a road over there for your game. Bat first, get 250+, and the pressure will be on them. Get Walford out early doors and the game is yours.
Shame we will be on a dust track, god i hate it at Ardleigh!!!!

Good luck mate

I spoke to one of my mates today, and his club approached Andrew Symonds, he wanted 40K for pretty much half a season as he's at the IPL

Do you have to pay to watch that standard of cricket? If so how much is it roughly?

Plus the professional generally act as a coach to the junior and senior players. So the idea is to get a good pro so he can pass on some tips and techniques to the amateur players.

And it's £3 for non-members to watch our first team

Played against Jon-Jon Smuts last year. Quality player and only young got 170 odd no against us!
