Just want to clear a couple of things up.

I no longer own Empire Cricket. It was sold two years ago to a good friend and local retailer, who has subsequently on-sold it to another entity. It is therefore on to its third owners.

Also, Empire Cricket was never a "factory" operation. I worked from a small workshop and specialised in custom bat making from start to finish and repairs for larger brands and their sponsored players. The only work I outsourced was the handles which were purchased from James Laver. This was simply because I felt they were the very best handles available. I am no longer involved in the bat making industry, apart from teaching the odd interested student about it in my role as a Manual Arts teacher.

There’s a few more ‘factory’ Aussie batmakers, and a few more Aussie cricket companies using Indian/ Pakistan imports.

Factory
Ian Callen (Callen cricket/ Willow Blue)
Dustin Gaskell (Gabba)
Gerry Grimes (Combat willow)

Indian/ Pakistan imports
Jet cricket, Devil cricket, Venom cricket, Bold Sports, Taipan (Premier cricket), Lawrence & Hendricks, Quest cricket, Pure Sport, SDO, Wombat, Buffalo. I have not confirmed these bats are imports so I will stand corrected if I’m wrong.

There’s also Keith Dudgeon Sport (KD) and 5 Star Plus (Evolution) but I’m not sure if they make their own or import.

And just to clarify a few things from the earlier list Mike Rindell and Norman Haylett-Petty are associated with Sovereign cricket in Perth. Ron Eggar and Robert Fortington are not making bats at the moment, and Greg Meller and Glen Murphy may also have stopped.

I know this is 7 years old... but Lachlan Fisher is still around and will be making me a custom bat in 4 weeks' time.

Excited would be understatement. Haven't upgraded my bat since 2011 (ironically).
