Willostix v Chase 175 Pads
« on: May 13, 2011, 10:52:01 AM »

Anyone used these before? Serious Cricket have them cheaper than buying direct which is an odd one!

Look lovely though, similar to SAF and Chase according to Dave during one of our many conversations about softs...would these be a good shout for a low sitting pad, have read a lot about the Chase 175's.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

if you want a low sitting pad, kookaburra are the best way to go imo, the willostix ones look nice but a friend who bought some said that they are very stiff and rigid, he refused to use my soaking method (which i swear by!) but they will sit low if thats what your after.

I have my eye on some kooks but can't find the Ice 850. Perry has some small mens but they might be too small....

What's your soaking method?? My Hawks are stiff still

If it was a choice between the two I would go for the willowstix as I'm not so keen on the red trim on the bottom of the chase pads

put your pads in a bath of cold water for 5 minutes, make sure they're totally saturated then leave them to dry, it may take a couple of days for them to dry but it is very worth while. cue 100 posts striking me down saying it will ruin your pads but at the end of the day ive done this 4 or 5 times with no problems what at all. In fact i even did it with my hawks when i had them.

they will feel very light and flexible, you have my word. as i remember, the Hawks took a little longer to dry out, maybe its the materials they're made from, 2-3 days get them out side if you can to speed the process

I have the willostix stick pads but have used these ones too. They are very comfortable and offer really good protection. Pretty much everyone at my club has these pads and I've not heard one complaint about stiffness, each to their own I guess!

Yeah I use the Chase 175's Dave refers to now. They are very nice pads, light and comfortable. A good buy at the price I got them for tbh :) - So good I've not needed to use the SS Pads yet :)
