I think someone is looking for some attention...

He joins Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf etc in short term retirement. Give him a week
Those two have had so many indefinite bans between them, good old crazy PCB.

Reopening a very old topic!

Afridi revealed roughly his real age - 4/5 years older than officially reported

Makes the u19 WC a bit of a farce if age fraud is taking place. Rashid Khan and majuub are the current lot of cricketers where you suspect their age is a lot older than reported.

Nonetheless makes Afridi's contributions later in his career greater.

Farce is the only word for it. How f&$£*& difficult is it to ensure a players age?

Very easy when some countries don’t have birth registers or common for people to now have passports etc and even if needed for a sporting event to represent your country do you think some countries would do back ground checks if there economy etc doesn’t allow it or the process isn’t even there

Pretty difficult if their from somewhere that doesn’t keep good birth records.

It's not easy to keep birth date track when we talk about 20 or so years ago in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan,India and many neighboring countries.
It was midwife's word you have to believe and even she didn't have official register but just a guess or day depending on moon position (whatever it's called)

My team has a lot of Pakistani players and def one I know does not know his actual age because there were no records in his village. We joke about it, as I understand it from the guys in my team it’s not unusual for there to be no record as we(English people) would understand it-a birth certificate.

Hopefully it's another cheat out of the game, can't se him sticking to his word though, Pakistani players have a massive problem with being honest.

Nothing like a quick bit of sweeping generalisation is there  ;)
