I’ve got an unused Optimum Megastrike 1000 which I think was the top of the range.

Any pics?

They appear to be very rare, but I have one, think you have already seen pics of it

Recently I have also picked up a cross between the volcano/supalight and a scoop - so it has cut off shoulders and a single scoop at the back

@Chalkie, I might have missed. The only image I can recollect of this model is in this post http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=14156.0 ( @12man )

Do you mind sharing the link to the photos or posting a few more?

Here are the pics of the GN Optimum.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/iZ7wCApNnGxcPZxA9

It taps up nicely and has 5 straight grains, with an impurity line down the middle. I guess this is why it was originally covered with fibretec.

I can't really bear to remove the signatures, which include Matthew Haydn, Graeme Swan, Devon Malcolm, John Crawley, Neil Fairbrother and a whole list of other England /lancs players.

Can anyone identify the missing Lancs. names. I have so far :

Crawley
Yates
??
Austin
Hegg
??
Fairbrother
??
Lloyd
Watkinson
??
Chapple

Thanks. Yes I think the missing name is Flintoff! Many thanks. Was hoping to have Gangly as well but I can't see his writing on there.

I trust you're not going to commit a crime against cricket history and sand off those signatures!

No don't worry. I can't bring myself to do that. I'm a natural hoarder and don't tend to mess around with historical items. But I am selling it on Fleabay as I don't have a good use for it. The silly thing is that a decent bat with signatures seems to be less valuable than one with a clean face.

Sadly that is the case, there doesn’t seem to be much interest in signed bats unless they are from a test match/series and ideally old ones, especially Ashes around the war years. I’ve seen ones with Bradmans signature sell very well, but ones from modern era often get very little.

Thought I would post a couple of pics of my most recent acquisitions for my GN collection.

The GN 500 Supreme is a bit different as it has a narrower cane handle which has been encased in 5mm of rubber all the way down including the splice. It is so unusual that GN themselves can’t tell me anything about it, guess was just a trial one year.

@tim2000s I know you like twin scoops, hope u like this one

Maybe a John Newbery experiment? He did unusual handles when he formed his own comany.

Potentially.  I used a Newbery County with a similar rubber coating in the bench I made. That bat had cracked right through the splice/shoulders probably due to the lack of strength with the reduced cane.

First time posting here so hope this is the right place for it, just recently picked up a Stuart Surridge Ian Redpath Autograph in pretty good condition considering how old it is (I assume the early 70's). Just wondering if anyone has seen any bats like this before or knows anything about it/recommendations as to whether to refurb it or keep it in its original condition. (I've tried attaching some photos but get a "cannot access attachments upload path" error, any advice on how to upload images much appreciated)
