Inspired by your vintage bats collection I popped into a couple of charity and antique shops whilst on hols in the South West and found a little bag of old bats and kit in one. There were 2 SS bats including an injection (in reasonable condition) an old GM like the one below from Cams Dad and a GN from the same era, plus a couple of other oldies. I haven't bought them yet, just wondering what sort of price one would usually expect to pay for these?

From a charity shop I'd not expect to pay a lot in all honesty. What were they offered at?

@tim2000s thanks for the advice. I went back to look at the bats in the antiques market and see if I could haggle the price down from �75.

Firstly they weren't in as good condition as I first thought, the writing on the old ones was pretty faded, and the Turbo injection had some toe damage hidden under tape. The seller wouldn't come down much (�60 was his best) so I decided to leave them.

But it has got me interested in vintage bats and I may well start a collection.

For all those that have already started theirs I have one question - What are peoples top 10 most wanted vintage bats (may need a new thread)?

Looking at the shape and profile (with my X-Ray Glasses) its a Slazenger V1200.

Jb got it in one a kook angry beats.

But I'd say it's more a slightly miffed beast as it is pretty much dead in terms of its main expect.

From a distance not to bad, close up a different story.

The face has been sanded with a file? Or rasp? Or 40 grit sandpaper? Huge mess and stickers ruined through sanding.

Back not inch better.
Majority of the plastic sheet has been damaged and dented, and replaced by marker pen! A sharpie ruining any for once. Stickers in a poor condition too.

There's also a crack through it on the toe.

Even though it cost me less than 40 quid I'm still highly disappointed.

Now do I leave and just have it as a collection piece for stickers?

Try to clean up and remove the bad refurb job bits?

Or fully refurb and replace the rear sheet with a method I've wanted to do for a while now? Hmm decisions.

Might be worth contacting kookaburra to see if they have any of these classic stickers left, They will refurb and re-sticker but it is likely to cot you as much as you paid for the bat. But it would be in mint condition.

Sorry to disappoint but that looks like one of the Indian range Angry Beasts, which were made from Kashmir willow and had painted (not fibreglass/carbon) backs

Your probably right, collection piece it is for stickers.

It also weighs 3.1 not the 2.15 as advertised.
