yes thanks I have seen it but apparently has a shoulder crack so I have rule that one out.

Hi there here are my 15 bats I have collected since returning to the crease last season one is a particular rare bat hope you all like the Duncan fearnley run reaper aka the cheese grater or the spaghetti strainer am having real difficulties upload pics what is the problem?

The powerspot classic was my first bat . I think i got it in 87 . It was a 'David Gower Signature / Limited Edition' . I wanted a scoop . When my mum came home with the powerspot i almost cried . It was a cracking bat though . A number of years later i got a blue spotted powerspot (the one Michael Slater used ) . Seeing pictures of this bat just reminded me of when my bat collecting bug started .

In this particular version, I suspect that the power all comes from the weight. When I picked it up I thought it was 2lb 13 or 14 oz. On the scales it comes in at a whopping 3lb. There isn't a lot of wood there for the weight, which is why i am inclined to believe that it is a predecessor to the Turbo.

As you can see in the pictures, it is effectively the opposite of the concaving we have now, with a curved back and no clear spine. I've no idea when it was designed, but I'm guessing early to mid-eighties. It states that it is a Supreme model, which I guess is probably a mid-range willow, and it has been heavily oiled... I think I remember the sports shop when I was at school having one, but I can't be sure, and that would be late eighties.

With the mallet, it doesn't seem to rebound all that specially, and wielding it, one wonders how you might get the ball off the square, without excellent timing, but I've found that with the Turbo as well.

So here we go, some pictures of a rarely seen bat.

S.S bats with blue in the stickers came out rather late in the piece...early nineties i think . So ghis is way newer than the turbo .

The Turbo Gooch used in 1990 had blue stickers, and I remember the sports shop in my town when at school having one of these when I was 14. Definitely late eighties/v early nineties.

Lighter than what? The tree that it came from?

It's not a looker is it - but a nice collector's piece.
With that amount of wood at the back, you'd expect it to go. If you can lift it.

I've been on the lookout for a bit of Duncan Fearnley willow action for a while, and picked up this cheeky classic coming in at 2lb 10oz from fleabay...

So after a bit of TLC and a lot of sanding and waxing later...

With new grip, counterbalanced handle and shoe goo, she's now 2lb 12oz. Not the prettiest bat, but it's very satisfying to restore an old classic back to match readiness.
I even gave the bat cover a good clean.

I did indeed attack with Ian Botham on President's Day, and she still goes!
Not my regular match bat, but a bit of a fondly remembered classic to some to bring out on special occasions.

Does anyone have an SP bat?
I remember, long time ago, they used to have mitten type batting gloves, and notice that Pakistan's Younus Khan used an SP bat a few years ago during an Autralia tour.

Is the company still in business?

Saint Peter (sp) bats are still around , i think . I googled it just now and a place in Oz are/were selling them . The stickers looked very s.s like .

first post! Great forum BTW guys

Just got back from a 4-week holiday back home (UK) from Oz, and took my two boys back to where it all started (Herefordshire)
My folks live in a cottage literally backing onto my old club ground (out the back door, across the lawn, straight onto the pitch)
Son #2 picks up a SS Turbo out of an old kitbag and bangs 20 off 7 balls in his first game for my old club (U9's) - 2 x 6's in the fist over - so we just had to bring the old fella back to Sydney!
Have given it a light sanding, bit of oil, and a new grip today. Pings like a charm still, after all these years

Will give it the shoe-goo treatment on the toe tomorrow, and he'll be good for a season or two. 1lb10oz and it's a size 6 I reckon. I have a lead on a SS bat sleeve from the 80's too

Guys a little guidance please.

I have the chance to buy a Kook Big Kahuna with the full back black sticker (not graphite unfortunately). It's in pretty good condition, and just wondered 2 things:

a) is it considered vintage or collectable due to the stickers?

b) what would be a fair price?

The Kahuna models from 2005/2006 are becoming increasingly rare. I brought a fibreglass model off of eBay this week called the Kahuna Warrior for �62 in, what appeared to be, brilliant condition and I think, I have picked up an absolute bargain! I would have been happy paying up to �100 for a decent one, so I guess it all depends on age and use.

It was lighter than the Turbo and Jumbo, which were the other SS bats at the time

So got hold of this today

I assume it isn't Graphite as that isn't mentioned anywhere on it, so guess it is fibreglass as definitely isnt a sticker.
