Jonpinson, if it was an exact replica of a 30 year old bat no one would buy it, people have become used to much bigger profile and expect big bats. They will sell if they are made well, it's still a great concept.

i dunno about that mate i think people on here have said they would...

Re: the patent GN may have for a scoop in the back.

I recall after Brian Lara smashed that WR 375 using the GN Scoop 2000, didn't he start using his own range of Lara bats about 12 months after that (after he left Warwickshire end of '95) ? I remember the Lara bats selling a scoop which was a clone of the GN Scoop or was it actually a GN product?

Those Lara stickers were hideous- all glittery with blue and orange colours I recall. Was that Lara make just a branch of Gray Nicolls at the time? It seemed to disappear pretty quickly!

The slaz V800 had several smaller scoops or grooves in the back so was a totally different design.

The Slaz V800. I can see why GN might think it was infringing...

I still have and use one of these bad boys, a V800 Classic.  Chanderpaul was the only player I remember using it, though I'm sure there were plenty of others.  Has a nice middle, and goes well on fast tracks with a superb pick-up.

I had a V800 that had the six scoops on the edges down the back of the profile, must have been the later model.

Definitely need to keep an eye on this. A chance to buy a modern Scoop can't be missed!

If it has a middle like the older ones, I may well pass...
