Apologies in advance if this thread is not manly enough...

Do more expensive whites wash better than cheap and cheerful ones?

My policy over the last few seasons has been to pick up a couple of pairs of bargain basement whites at the start of the year, and chuck them at the end of the season, as they pick up stains along the way.

This years super cheap whites (2 pairs for £15) have fallen apart already - I'm wondering if I invest in better quality whites, will they wash better too?

From years of whites abuse, you don't get rid of stains any better on cheaper or more expensive ones. Vanish is your friend.

In terms of holding together, £25 quid whites always seem to last the season without falling apart. (Used GN ones for the last couple of years and been mildly impressed with their durability)

i have d&M whites and worn them for about 25 games so 25 washes!!

and they still havnt worn at all.

I have no idea about washing whites - my wife does it and I pretend I have no idea how the washing machine works, but I use the Nike trousers and they don't look like I have ever worn them after 2 seasons use (less than simmy's 25 games though!!)

i've still got the duncan fearnley ones i started with about 10 years ago. you're supposed to wash them on cold, which helps gently lift the stains out :)

if you wash them on hot it bakes the stains in and you'll never get them clean.

I've just bought a pair of Funky cricket trousers that seem to wash very well and they were only £15 or so. I had a pair of Canterbury ones before and they were a nightmare...... Got a thing about owning some of the retro M&H ones but as they are cotton I am not sure my washing skills are up to it.....

Buzz this is because you never get them dirty as you stand at slips with your hands in your pocket, admittedly you'd probably scored a ton in the first innings so i guess id let you off ;)

Saying I stand with my hands in my pockets is way harsh!!
These days after batting my bat is so sore I stand at Mid on/3rd man and try to avoid fielding :o I can't wait or the day that my son is old enough to field for me :)
