I umpired at the weekend and the keeper took several deliveries in front of the slips but none were wides due to the ball actually swinging away even further after it had passed the stumps.

It's been like that for years mate, at least 3 seasons I think, who do you play for?

Cheltenham, only joined this season though used to play in the Warwickshire Leauges. Who do you play for?

Ah right, Yeah the 1's are I'm playing 2's at the moment though and we're in Prem 2

I see, that's a very strong standard. All seconds in WEPL are pretty strong, especially when you get to prem 1/2!

In ours we have lines painted too and anything down the legside (even if the batter moves across to off) is a wide. Umpires are very consistent on it to be be fair... as long as it's the same for both sides it doesn't really matter

Yeah its pretty good, probably just slightly weaker than the 1st XI cricket I was playing in the Warwickshire Leauge

There's nothing worse than being called wide because the ball has swung away well after it has passed the bat!  >:(

I know, but you do see them given. I probably give a bit too much latitude (no pun intended) on the leg side too, in that I don't call absolutely everything!
