No one going for imran khan, surely the greatest all rounder of his era. and there were some legendary all rounders in his day, botham, hadlee, kapil dev. Personally i believe only Sobers was a better all rounder.

Personal opinion dear boy. If you feel that strongly for his inclusion then share your views! :)

Well in terms of stats, he had a better test batting average than beefy, kapil, and hadlee. He had a better bowling average and economy rate than both beefy and kapil. I know stats dont tell the whole story but he was just a joy to watch, the flair and artistry of his play was beautiful. and he had the added pressure of being a captain and he was a inspirational captain. i know its not the test arena but took a pakistan to world cup victory too.

Like i said sobers is the greatest all rounder but after him its imran all the way for me. I would have both sobers and imran in my team.

Lol that's your opinion then mate, write down your best team. This whole thread is down to personal opinion to find the forum's ideas of the best test eleven of all time. I'm sure you don't agree with every-one's ideas which is why its a poll. Go on, give us your best eleven!!! :)

I reckon in years to come Kallis will be held in similar regard.  Beautiful batsman to watch, quality change bowler, truly dependable.

Yet gets hardly any plaudits. Perhaps it is due to the idea that he is seen to quite often play for himself.

True, but then you could say the same of most opening batsmen in test cricket over the years.  Does raise an interesting question of who would be in a team of current test players.  Mine certainly wouldn't just mirror the ICC rankings.

Strange how so few seem to have Boycott in there, anyone who can bat with a stick of celery on uncovered wickets should be considered.  Anyone mentioned Allan Border or Steve Waugh yet?  Broke all sorts of records. Ricky Ponting for sheer runs amassed (in all conditions) over the years?

Very true but perhaps absence makes the heart go fonder.

Fair enough.

Mine would be:
Greenidge
Tendulkar
Bradman
Richards.V
Sobers
Kallis/Botham
Marsh
Hadlee
Wasim Akram
Marshall
Warne

Got most test nations covered there, Kallis or Botham would be 12th man.  Though qalib13's argument for Imran Khan is very convincing too.  Too hard this.
