would be a market i think.

I mean if it was guaranteed to break after 15-60 days then there would be no market. But if you bought knowing yeah the life expectancy isnt good and youd probably get 1 season (I mean test players genuingly get a fair bit of use out of there bats), then I still think there would be a market.

The sales pitch is:

This bat will be the best performing bat you've ever used. When you middle it, the ball will fly off to all parts of the ground in a way that you've never experienced before. As a result of this amazing performance, the life expectancy of this bat is much lower than average, and we can only guarantee it for 30 days, but you'll get amazing bang for your buck!

Have we found the ulitmate performing bat, or more marketing speak?

Kookaburra New Players Range

Limited Edition - all of which would not be out of place in the bag of Ricky Ponting or gracing the turf of Lords or the MCG. In each model we have chosen the best 100 bats that we can produce to offer the most decerning the players the opportunity to own a bat that will without doubt be the best they have ever owned.

Bats for the real connoisseur, selected by our Master Bat Maker with Performance rather than Durability in mind.

For players like me who are a bit naff, I would happily go for a bat that might break after a few hundred runs as that could take me a whole season or more to reach that. So I would be happy to have maximum performance even if life length is an issue

Was done by Island about 15 years ago. A model specifically soft pressed for performance. Didn't command a premium either.

It's just another marketing ploy these days...pay more for a bat that won't last as long.

Shouldn't cost a premium as a softly pressed bat will not result in improved performance

Uh, thanks. Just reporting what they said. Sure they would be happy to answer any queries you have though.

The life expectancy of these bats is determined by various aspects, the style of your play, a brute like Chris Gayle or a timer like Bell. The quality of the ball, the age of the ball ie how many overs old, the pace of the wicket, the type of bowlers faced.

they do provide an extra punch into the shots though

quite possible, but it would be a pick up and balance issue as opposed to any other reason.
