Most Valuable Innings
« on: May 28, 2008, 03:06:38 PM »

Which innings are you most proud of, whether it be an excellent ton, or maybe even a match winning 50, or lower, depending on the situation?

For me it would have to be the 50 I got a few weeks ago in the Welsh cup U15, where we were chasing 96 to win.
Either that or the 26 I got that took me 20 overs last season in a 2nds match, where I batted 8, going in at 40-7, but helped us to around 110, and more importantly used up overs, this as I was still a bowler, as I got a five-for in their chase! But this innings helped to establish myself as an all-rounder, which I now firmly consider to be!

Good Topic This!!

Mine has to be playing for the U15's in a Premier League Semi Final, 2 years above myself.  I went in at something like 65-7.  Managed to score 38 to get us into a defendable total of around 130 in the end! We ended up winning the match by 5 runs and I took the winning catch.

About 2 weeks ago when we were chasing 128 in 20 overs, i opened but wickets were falling all around me and i had to bat sensibly and bat through the innings to get a match winning 65 not out and win the game with 3 balls to go.

Hmm, well one of them would be when i came in 2nd ball of the game at number 3 against the 2nd best side in the comp, i held up our innings but got retired on 47  :( my other innings would be a similiar thing but coming in at 3 when the score was 5, i got retired on 52 that game aswell.

Um probably the best dig i have had was at the U12 Regional Final where I made 44 and put on 177 with my opening partner with our team chasing down the 222 we needed to win and helping the Sunny coast to its first Treloar Shield victory in its 25 year history

I've had 3 real important innings in my mind:

1.) Got 7* batting against some of the most hostile bowling from a rapid West Indian bloke to take bonus points from a lost cause. Put on an unbroken 55 partnership with a guy who took them on with consumate ease.

2.) Chasing 133 in a 20/20 Cup Final and came back in having retired and put on 35 from 6 overs to win with the no.11! I finished with 39* and he had 4* in the last stand there were loads of byes it was great watching their frustration at the end.

3.) Had my rib cracked and batted on to make 28* and take our total to 154 which we defended and I tok 4-12 that day.

45 over match vs school 2nds. came in at 6 with 5 overs left us needing about 12 an over to win, got 22 of the 5 balls i faced after taking strike as i came in. Admitedly i got bounced out and gloved toed a hook to square leg 3rd ball of the next over, but with a strike rate of around 400 i like to think i made the score managable for our opener and we won that match on the final ball!

Under 16s game at the weekend. Came in, 1 ball, hit 2 runs to give us 132 from 25 overs.
I then bowled the last over, them needing 10 to win, their retired (South of England batsman) 2 wickets away from coming back in.

After 2 singles, then 2 wickets, he came in needing 8 runs of two balls.
My AMAZING two yorkers only went for 2 runs each, leaving them 4 short.

Wooooooooooooooooooooo

Last season, was dropped from the 1's and wasnt scoring runs.

We were chasing 180 to win and I went in at 40/3 and saw two more wickets fall for not many. At roughly 50/5 me and the opening bowler set about the chase, I scored 86 and got to within 10 runs of victory before getting out! It was significant with having a long tail, after i got out we did lose 2 wickets but the other guy finished it on 45 NO.

Won match winning performance with it, put our team on an 8 match un beaten run to finish 3rd and miss out on promotion.

And also, 1 no one forgets there first 50 but mine was special, was playing in the hardball finals at The Oval when I was 11 and got 52 in 9.5 overs in a 10 over match! really special.
