plain are ok but think they look a bit un-finished without stickers

Yeah - a plain bat looks lovely if it has excellent grains and when it is white, unoiled and unused but when it's got cherries all over it they do look unfinished and poor.

My two cents on plain bats

Fair enough, just seemed that there was so much disagreement over stickers that a plain bat might have got the reaction it did.
I agree once used plain bats don't look that great, but then again, do the stickered bats look good with cherries all over..?

When buying a bat, do stickers come into your thought process..? ???

Yes and no. You still want atop performing bat but if you had a number of choices then you will get the one with the best looking stickers. Also nothing a bit of nail polish remover can't sort out:-)

And if it is a custom, what has often been said is go with the stickers you like as most of us won't be able to tell the difference in performance...

Yeah, when buying a bat from a shop I make a note of completely ignoring stickers, I go only on pickup. This has lead me to have 2 Pumas and a Hunts County.

But obviously if it is a custom, as just about all custom bat makers will make you a bat as good as the others, stickers are the only thing that really sets them apart.

If you get nice stickers on a bat, that's a bonus.
The important thing is the pickup, balance, pressing and finish on the bat!!
You can remove and replace stickers if you don't like them - it's more expensive to replace the bat!!  ;)

I've always had a deep loathing of Slazengers, probably because I associate them with sports direct, who in itself I associate someone at our club who uses all gear from sports direct and is absolutely hopeless. (His bat is cloth covered)

Also, my local sports directs are bloody terrible.
