Betting has nothing to do with the fact they've lasted 5 days. Everybody knows that the Umpires are rather strict on light now. That's no secret. That, combined with slow over-rates, means that we get less play in a day. TV companies have more to do with it than betting companies, if anything!

It is up to umpires and ICC officials to decide on an early start. I do not find any logical explanation to why they opted against it. The light has become a contagious issue since the power of decision came to umpires.

Because of poor light in the morning, I'd assume. There is always a reason. They don't have to divulge said reason with fans/supporters.

Hmm seems like you know all then can you provide a logical explanation to it?

As Tumo has said there is always a reason - it has got nothing to do with betting. I do however think test matches should be played in worse light than they currently are - often conditions are far from dangerous.

the bad light issue has always been contentious, long before the decision rested with the umpires

Johnson and Haddin fight but haddin goes.

23 to win, 3 wickets, and also the issue of going off for light.  Ball is seeming everywhere with new ball which was taken two overs ago

I think the Saffas will get home.

Lame defensive, timewasting Saffers. Hope they get what they deserve.

Siddle goes. 8/292 chasing 310. Cant see where Australia are gonna find another 18 runs. They are also going quite hard cause light will be an issue in next little bit.

18 to win, 2 wickets left could go either way, but I think the Aussies should just sneak it

aus win. get the final 18 somehow. a dropped catch in there and a lot of plays and misses. Johnson 40* and Cummins 10* caps off a good debut

What a brilliant test match. Australia finally show some fight and finish off a match.

Why couldn't there be a 3rd test ??? ??? ??? Would have been a fantastic end to the series.

How nervous did Nathan Lyon look! Reminded me of a young Matthew Hoggard waiting to face Ambrose and Walsh!

Great win for Australia and I imagine they'l be happy with a drawn series?
