Screaming Cat- Worth The Money?
« on: November 15, 2011, 10:03:11 AM »

Right, my cousin is in Melbourne for the next few months, he says he will bring me a Scat back if i order it and he can pick it up, but at £400 for the Elite model it seems very steep.

Any opinions?

If he brings it back with him you may not have to pay any custom charges. The exchange is poor for us at the moment, but I think it's worth it if it's £400 all in. Julian has suffered illness in the last few years so he may knock this pod shaving lark on the head, and you may never have the opportunity again.

Alternatively, spend £200 on a uk made custom bat and £200 on coaching. Can almost guarantee more runs that way...

In that case £300 sounds good. Did you pay any import taxes on your two bats?

Agree - should buy you 8-10 hours of bowling machine time with a qualified coach. You'll hit more off the middle!

if only that were the case - then there would be a few forum members with a not so small coaching bill coming their way!!

You're not a volunteer are you? Non-profit and all that? If so, sign me up for 10 lessons. If you could get me to play a textbook cover drive in a match it would be your crowning achievement (trust me, I'm no Ian Bell...)

Back on the subject.....The scat 100no came from me.
It tapped up superbly well, but the profile just wasn't right for me! No reason for it as it was a quality bat, but obviously I'm not!  ;)
And 100no had it from me and he does get on with it and it goes like a rocket for him! I'm sure it's the same with other bats! I knew the scat was a great piece of willow as soon as I tapped it up (it was the top model) but didn't suit my style of play!  :(
I still have one scat though which I get on better with so it's not all bad for me!  8)

It's one hell of a wedge to fork out unless you're sure that it will be a profile suited to you! No doubting the quality of the batmaker and the willow though!!! Pure class on both accounts.

Where is "The Barn" anyway. I'm actually heading down South this weekend and fancy a session with Buzz :-)
