Just got back from nets wore my ayrtek for the first time (other than posing around the house in it). I'm no expert but it seemed sound, I pumped it up so it felt secure and away I went. I was able to take it off by just pulling the chin cup off my chin and wasn't aware that it had deflated. I did sweat a bit, but I sweat eating a salad and even if I wore a colander on my head it would be the same.

Overall 20 minutes and the lid felt great. Just need a wider bat or glasses lol.

I only got my ayrtek yesterday so have only worn it a little in the house, following the instructions I seem to only have to inflate it a little before it starts to rise on my head (must be my big lump of a skull).

Got a net on Monday so will see if it deflates at all.

Did any of you change the grill position from how it was supplied? I know it's set for safety but just seems like a narrow gap.

Ok, a little update on this.

I eventually decided to sell my Masuri last month after becoming comfortable in the ayrtek thanks to the sweatbands.

Then, whilst my ayrtek was back with Tom having pinstripes added to it amongst other things I decided to have a net. For this I had to use my dads masuri with my old Ti grill. I subsequently had the worst net I've had in a while. The vision on the masuri was horrible and it just didn't feel right.

Getting my ayrtek back this weekend so hopefully when club indoor nets start I will be better equipped to face our quicks!

Just a note on the extra padding, I have 1 piece of padding at the front and one at the back. If you struggle to get the Velcro tabs to stick to the liner then use double sided tape.

Yeah i have used carpet tape to stick the pads in that the Pros are using as they obviously get to enjoy warmer climates than us to play cricket in!

Tom - I hear the Stig really liked the Ayrtek he tested - is that true?

I got some of the sweatbands but struggled to get the Velcro to stick as well.
I've got some other Velcro tape that I'm going to try later today. I was just going to stick one of the sweatbands at the front as the ayrtek fits pretty snugly on my head anyway. I reckon it'll just make it feel a little better and will also soak up some of the sweat as the liner seems to take a while to dry.

Tom if you don't mind can you post pictures to what you did with Liam's helmet please?

I'd be interested in seeing what adjustments were made

Thanks

Not from the video evidence iv seen....the technical aspects were too much for a man who lack an opposable thumb...this snookered him when trying to work out how to inflate the liner....apparently!

mate liam (prowannabe) felt same. he just couldnt get used to it. he does have a Pea head tho!

I absolutely loved my Ayrtek Raw. It was truly awesome I just couldn't get comfortable in it as my head is a funny shape. No fault of the helmet at all. Would recommend them to anyone  :D

Use double sided tape and the Velcro tabs will stick, one at the front and one at the the back makes it feel like a masuri to me!

Iv only added some pin stripes to it mate not done anything to the liner....just standard sweat pads and some double sided tape will get the pads to stick a bit better

wore my raw to nets tonight, having got hold of some sticky backed velcro strips from the hardware store.  Finally i can get the sweat pads to stick.  Lid felt excellent although the field of view is slightly different to the masuri.  I noticed that one of the magazine reviews recently asked for a permanent sweat pad, is this likely to be a future "fix" Tom?  Also i'm lucky to have a small bonce, but with the sweat pads in front and rear i found almost no need to inflate, does this mean people with large round noggins aren;t going to be able to use sweat pads at all?
