For me the popular trends are
1. big edges = better bat
2. "lower weight distribution for hitting over the top on low slow wickets"
3. concaving

But I hate all three, put the wood in the middle where I intend to hit it. If I miss the middle it's my fault. My match bat has a high distribution of weight and it's a fantastic bat to drive with. Within no.2 there is a constructed assumption that if you play on low slow wickets we must all hit the ball in the same place on the bat. Concaving, No NO NOOOOOOOO!!!!! Its gone too far.

Just my opinion on things nothing more. No offence intended.

I like a little concaving on a monster bat but the extremes are daft as on lighter bats!

I don't want massive edges i want a bat that has a true middle and leave me to use it. It's a bit of a c@ck extension really as yes it will be more forgiving but it's a comprimsed bat.

A bit like having blade golf clubs and cavity/muscle backs, they are only there to make up for the lack of technique. I got taught with a training bat and still net with one today. I want the meat in the middle where i can use it...

Someone on here the other day gave out the best advice for a bloke with £400 to spend.... get a bat made for £200 and get lessons... can't fault that!

The t20 bats grind me up a bit though, if i hit a six do i really need another bat that makes it go further? If you can't clear the rope.. once again don't change bats... get coaching (or eat spinach)  :D
