Great thread so far, keep them coming as I need to take pictures of mine, and i need a excuse. Only I told the mrs I was getting a replacement bat for the "one that broke". Hook line and sinker on that one but I ordered another bat after seeing canners ultra.

I had money burning a hole in my pocket, and I'd rather buy a new bat than have to buy new trousers because of said burning hole?

In hindsight, using an anecdote like that probably won't work... But you could say you've worked hard for it, deserve a treat, etc?

I go round the aesthetics/practicality of a cricket bat.

"I needed one with a higher middle"

I needed one for wet weather with a low middle.

I need one for when my one with (see above excuse) is away at repair.

Blagged to mother last year when I walked in with a brand new bat that it is the same one just refurbed....... and 6 ounces heavier!
