I'm sorry, I'm sure they go like the clappers, but my god are they the least attractive bat in the world.

Yeah don't think it wins a beauty contest, but it goes well off the mallet.

Would still pick it against any modern stickered bat  ;)

It's the perfect opener/facing fast bowlers bat IMO. Nothing in the shoulders so you can do your best Michael Atherton and block what you need but super light so you can move it around quickly, and with a lovely bulge at the end to punish the wide ones.

Personal preference I suppose and it's hardly traditional though is it?

I reckon it would be interesting to put the Crictech sheets on it and see how often you actually middle the ball off your average opening quick...

I am thinking of ordering some and trying some using this against a bowling machine.

If you use against the bowling machine you need the special backing for them

The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.

Certainly not (it's shape is decidedly fugly!), I just think the potential power you'll get from any connection outweighs it. If any 'shape' would worry a bowler (not that it ever does, outside the minds of marketing speil writers), it is this one IMO
