lead golf club tape works ok, you should put some plaster or cloth tape over it to hold it in place.

you need to be careful as it has an impact on where the middle is one the bat, sometimes this works better than others.

How much difference does the lead tape make? I Have a m&h solution which is (obviously) bottom heavy...

It has an impact on where the point of least vibration is (2oz at the top of the bat will move the point of least vibration 1in up the bat), but not on where the pingiest part of the bat is (sweetspot).

thanks for that guys. have managed to cancel the aluminium tape. Will the counterbalance move the middle higher?

It will move the place where you get the least vibrations (the place it feels nicest to hit the ball). The 'sweetspot' (place of best rebound) will not be affected. You may feel like you have middled it when actually you haven't that's the issue. Approx 2oz of tape at the top of the bat will move the point of least vibrations 1in up the bat.

I also would recommend taping the soon-to-be lead taped area with duct tape first so it adheres properly.
