Middling bats/training bats

Been looking into the idea of getting a middling bat for training.

Has anybody got one/used one? What do you think of them etc, any weight issues...

The Eye in ones are quite heavy for what they are.
I liked using one, not used one for a few years though. Was gonna cut the edges down the shoulder of the bat.

I used to use one a lot until it snapped :(

I have one, an old peak sports one which I really like and use a lot especially with the bowling machine.

it only cost £20 too!

I had a fearnley one. Prob got 3-4 seasons use out of it before it gave up.

I think they are a useful tool. When your in poor form they can help you concentrate more on technique, and if your in good form they help make you even more confident.

In an ideal world you'd prob get one the same weight as your match bat, but think mine was a good 5oz lighter and it was still useful

I have a Cicada middling bat (I think they were related to Hunts in some way though I could very possibly be wrong!).
It's really useful for throwdowns on the day of a game and just before you bat to get the eye in. Though you could always practice some catching or something else.
I think they're a decent investment, hopefully you find one for a reasonable price! :)

I have a readers one and I started using it again this year and it helped my timing alot. I'm actually going to implement it in my training next year. So 2 buckets with match bat, 2 with middling bat and then back to the match bat to finish.

Here is a video of me using it last year, with the machine set on 60mph, I did pretty well and absolutely cream one of them
