The first cricket box was used in 1874.  The first cricket helmet was introduced in 1974. So, it took 100 years for men to twig that their brains were also worth protecting.

Interesting just shown the video of the guy in the white helmet

Was the stig a bowler a former county coach does not think he was a batsman not a top order one anyway

Have to agree with him hard to tell but was the machine set to random

I think he's been around a few counties, maybe an average FC record as a batter or an allrounder?

He may be a bowler! In fact, some say that when he bowls, you do not see the ball, and the first sign that he has released the ball is when your middle stump goes cartwheeling! Others say that he can bowl and inswinger AND outswinger with the same ball! All we know is that he's called The Stig!  ;)

talking of cartwheeling stumps...

Playing in the same team (briefly) as a lad called Jamie Bovill. James was just starting out with Hampshire when he had to play against Surrey in a 40 over bash. James was a tale ender but could hold a bat, however on this day a Mr W Younis was playing. I think it was all over in a couple of balls lol

Can't most swing bowlers bowl and inswinger and an outswinger with the same ball ;)

Dave, very few people are privy to the true identity of the stig, but I think you'd be surprised if you found out - I guarantee you'll have heard of him.

....and he's actually a left hander

I seriously hope not, the bubble that I have endeavored to create where people might think I can bat would be seriously be burst. :o :o :o

Obviously, indeed that man is most proper batsman.

I bet Stig approached him for tips :D
