i used to use GM autograph originals back in the day, i couldn't get on with the purist when it came out, seemed to toe heavy in comparison for me, may be i just got unlucky with the ones i picked up, i wanted to love it but i couldn't, ended up swaping to mjolnirs instead

I loved the purist as like most guys say it was good of both the front and back foot and it had a middle nearly the full length of the bat. Small edges fantastic balance and a great pick up were characteristics of the few I used just and they just felt like a wand in the hands when batting. The gloves were great too as were the pads in original and the LE form. The LE gloves GM market now  are basically the same as the old Purist LE gloves  + a few minor alterations. I hope GM have the balls and nous to bring out an up to date Modern purist style bat as older cricketers would buy just for nostalgia I think. Also Vaughny used one in the 2005 ashes which was the cricket series on television both terrestrial and satellite with the highest ever viewing figures.

Being slightly cynical, I thought it got loads of love because Michael Vaughan used one, really...

Likewise; loved the Cannon when that was around and had a size 5 Skipper when I were a wee nipper, but the Purist seemed too...ephemeral somehow.

So ephemeral they named it twice.
The name is great, that helps.

That picture demonstrates nicely what Michael Vaughan said about changes in bat sizes since "his" ashes.

Needs a new grip, but picks up well and feels perfectly knocked in when bouncing a ball off it.  Lovely piece of wood for £50.
